Power Rangers: 11 Improvements For The Sequel
4. More Flashback Sequences
Arguably the best scene in the entire movie is the opening flashback sequence, where Zordon (as the Red Ranger) sacrifices himself to seemingly kill Rita and bury the Rangers' power coins in the Earth.
It's a fantastically gritty, visceral scene for a PG-13 superhero movie, and feels much closer in tone to the popular R-rated Power Rangers short that did the rounds a few years ago.
The scene lasts maybe three minutes in total, though, and left fans craving much more. Hopefully the sequel will delve deeper into Zordon's days as a human as part of the original Rangers.
How Likely Is It?: Difficult to say, as the movie probably won't want to pull itself in two directions at once, especially as the flashback in the first film was solely to set-up the Rangers' origin.
Perhaps we'll get to see an ancient battle between the original Rangers and whoever this movie's antagonist turns out to be, but it could end up seeming too lazy and similar to the flashback from the first film. 4/10
