Power Rangers Review: 7 Ups & 4 Downs
1. Alpha-5 Looks Absolutely Terrible
As most fans suspected from the little seen of him in the film's marketing, Alpha-5 (Bill Hader) is a bit of a bust this time. He's arguably the goofiest aspect of the series, and though Hader gives an entertaining vocal performance as the character (even letting out a few "Ai-yi-yi-yi-yi!"s), the outrageously bad CGI and grotesque character design makes him difficult to warm to.
Sure, Alpha in the original series was a fairly clumsy-looking creature, but he had charm, whereas here he looks legitimately ugly. Fingers crossed he gets a bit of a style upgrade in the next film.
But now the complaining is done with, here's everything that, critics be damned, actually worked...
