4. Mjolnir is MIA

While the recently released behind the scenes look at Avengers: Infinity War has fans abuzz with speculation and theories, fans may have been too busy recovering from the excitement of seeing Rocket Raccoon fighting with Thor (albeit in the form of concept art) to notice a relatively small but hugely important detail in the image: his iconic hammer is missing in action.

It looks as though Thor is instead wielding Jarnbjorn, the Dwarven-forged battleaxe used by Thor both before and after his glory days with his one true club, Mjolnir. It’s very probable that this means Mjolnir doesn’t make it out of Thor: Ragnarok at all, especially considering the story focuses on Thor’s (second) banishment from Asgard, forcing him to fight tooth and nail to get back and save his home. We already know Thor and Hulk will cross paths in the movie, likely in a gladiatorial setting, and having Mjolnir by his side would make things a little unbalanced.

Further speculation also points to the fact that Thor’s hammer may contain the Soul Stone, hence its ability to read and judge the souls of potential wielders, making the destruction of Thor’s hammer even more necessary within the context of the movie.
