Predicting 20 Comic Book Movies Announced In 2017
15. Wonder Woman 2
With Wonder Woman's story about to be told for the first time on the big screen - FINALLY - we're probably not too far away from the inevitable sequel being announced on the back of it.
Looking at established precedent, Warner Bros will spin the hype of the first few weeks (box office performance and DC fan reaction) into a way of announcing that sequel.
All that really remains to be confirmed is whether it will be set in the present, or if it will stay with the period setting, which will presumably all be made clear when the credits roll on the first movie.
Evidence?
There's been nothing direct so far, but you have to take into account the way the DCEU ploughs on regardless of obstacles placed in its way. Even if Wonder Woman doesn't do well (there's nothing suggesting this at all, yet), that would be no hindrance to a sequel, because the shared universe is being used as a safety net of sorts that keeps each strand ticking over.
Gal Gadot has also indirectly talked up the possibility of a sequel, by suggesting that she'd like to see Halle Berry introduced as a love interest for her bisexual lead. Talking to Israeli chat show Good Night with Guy Pines (in comments translated by Twitter user Roger Allen), she was enthusiastic about that possibility:
“I saw her the other day, Halle Berry. She’s so beautiful. Wow! She’s gorgeous! So… yeah, I could do it with her.”
