Predicting 20 Comic Book Movies Announced In 2017
14. Big Hero 7
It may already have a sequel in the form of the Disney XD animated series, but there's still a very big chance that Big Hero 6 will get a big screen follow-up. The original did massive numbers ($650m, making it the 8th highest grossing non-sequel animated movie ever made), and the characters quickly became beloved enough to make a sequel feel inevitable.
There's definitely room to develop more stories around the team - even without looking at specific comic book arcs - and the idea that Disney wouldn't want to push the marketing muscle of Baymax is almost inconceivable.
Evidence?
Before the series was announced, it very much felt like a matter of when, as opposed to if. Star Genesis Rodriguez, had said "there's rumblings of something else happening" back in 2015, and astutely observed that - after the success of the first film - "I doubt that they wouldn't want to do another one".
Whether those rumblings were limited to the show remains to be seen, but the film made $650m and that's not the kind of money that gets ignored. Plus Stan Lee has previously mentioned that a sequel is one of the movies he understands Marvel plan to make.
