2017's soft reboot of the Jumanji franchise, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, was one of the most unexpected successes of the 2010s. Despite little hope for it pre-release, it scored a rock solid 77% with critics and grossed over $950 million despite hefty competition from Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Though not quite as enthusiastically embraced, sequel Jumanji: The Next Level still scored 72%, and we'll bet on a similar, slight decline for the currently-shooting third film.

Even with pretty much everyone returning from the first two, it's a fair guess that the charm will start to wear off in this third entry, especially as it takes the risky leap of bringing the action back into the real world.

But the cast's chemistry and some inevitably fun set-pieces will probably keep Jumanji 3 on the right side of good, even if it's hardly going to blow anyone away.
