Bet against Christopher Nolan at your peril - he's one of the most consistently impressive blockbuster filmmakers working today on both a critical and commercial level, so why expect any different from his gigantic adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic The Odyssey?
Even accepting the decline of the "sword and sandals" movie in recent years, Nolan's technical mastery and the outrageously stacked casts he's able to command ensure The Odyssey is going to be a visually dazzling, brilliantly acted epic.
With the entire film being shot on IMAX's 70 mm film cameras, expect critics to praise it to the high heavens as a film you absolutely, positively must see on the big screen above almost all others.
The trailer footage we've seen so far looks absolutely spectacular, all the more so as Nolan pulled most of it off practically, even getting a giant animatronic puppet made for the Cyclops.
If this isn't near-universally praised, it'd be a huge surprise.
