Predicting DC's 9 Upcoming Superhero Movies Up To 2020
7. Wonder Woman - November 17, 2017
Now, this is where the list gets a bit tricky. Beyond Batman V Superman, Shazam, Sandman, and Justice League, we don't really know what films Warner Brothers has in active development; we know they're prepping an Aquaman film (more on that later), and know that Gal Gadot signed a three-film contract to play Wonder Woman. That contract includes Batman V Superman, Justice League, and undoubtedly a Wonder Woman film. Wonder Woman will get a small role in Batman V Superman, that will then be expanded in Justice League, so audiences will need very little time from then on to get ready for her solo venture. November 17, 2017 seems like the best date for Wonder Woman to hit theaters, as it can benefit greatly from the massive momentum that Justice League will have earlier that year, and avoid running into other big summer blockbusters along the way. The fall has proven to be a great time for big budget films to hit theater, especially those with female leads and fantasy elements. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hit theaters on November 22, 2013 and became one of the highest grossing films of the year, while Thor: The Dark World and the Harry Potter films showed that fantasy fans will happily go to the theatre in the tail-end of the year. Warner Bros. is also under a lot of pressure to make a Wonder Woman film, as she's not only the most iconic female comic book character of all time, but one of the oldest as well. She definitely deserves a movie before the likes of the rest of the JLA, and if Warner Bros. wants to cash in on audience excitement and show that they're confident in the character, they'll get her into theatres as soon as humanly possible.
