3. Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider Man Homecoming Money
Marvel Studios

Worldwide Gross: $900 million

Spidey's always been a money-maker; his very first 2002 feature grossed more than $800 million worldwide and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, despite being critically maligned, managed to bank a tidy $708 million.

That's a huge figure, and it's an amount that most movies can only dream of hitting, but it's the lowest-grossing Spider-Man movie to date and the response to the Andrew Garfield-led sequel could've impacted Homecoming's chances of crossing that mythical 1 billion dollar gross.

Also denting those chances: Despicable Me 3 one week before, and Cars 3 and War For The Planet Of The Apes a week after. That's a pretty crowded couple of Saturdays, and the two animated juggernauts could feasibly steal a good chunk of the younger audience who'd otherwise be clamouring for more Spidey.

Still, considering the box-office power of the Spider-Man name to date, $700 million will be a breeze, and $800 million should come without a struggle. It's here that the wall-crawler's absolutely scene-stealing turn in Captain America: Civil War will come in handy, as this new incarnation of the character turns to the well of audience love he's already built up for help in netting that next $100 million.

As an added bonus, the film will feature Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark, a character that's appeared in the MCU's four highest grossing films to date. $900 million is more than doable!
