Predicting The Next 10 Movies That Will Make Over $1 Billion

10. The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies

It's just over a month until Peter Jackson's Middle-Earth Saga comes to a close (that is until his bank balance goes low and Warner Bros. buy up the rights to The Silmarillion) with The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, a film you can put money on being the next movie to reach that billion dollar mark. Although The Hobbit hasn't gone down too well with die-hard fans of The Lord Of The Rings, the same can't be said of the reaction from the general audience, who have delighted in revisiting Middle-Earth and aren't as put-off by the rampant alterations to the book. To some it's even a worthy companion piece to the more naturally epic originals, so you can bet there'll be a lot of positive word-of-mouth. The first two movies in the trilogy marked a distinct drop in box-office takings when you consider the massive 3D mark-up, but not to a disastrous extent; even though The Desolation Of Smaug failed to make a billion dollars, it still managed to become the fourth highest grossing film of 2013. And, as the final entry in a six-film series, The Battle Of The Five Armies is a cinema event, something that'll even bring those sick of CGI action versions of quiet book scenes into the screenings.
