Predicting The 10 Biggest Box Office Bombs Of 2018

1. Mortal Engines

Mortal Engines
Universal

Budget: $100 million

Predicted Box Office: $60 million (projected $140 loss)

Though based on a popular YA novel and produced by Peter Jackson, it's hard to see Mortal Engines having much general, international appeal due to the lack of stars at the forefront, a steampunk aesthetic that rarely translates to box office gravy, and the lack of a name director (this being director Christian Rivers' first film).

On top of all this, it's hitting screens in a crowded holiday slot, where it'll have to compete with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Aquaman, Bumblebee: The Movie and Mary Poppins Returns, all of which have far greater brand recognition.

The main issue, inevitably, will be that it's just too weird to latch onto the mainstream, no matter how good it ends up being.

Which 2018 movies are you expecting to bomb at the box office? Shout them out in the comments!
