Predicting The 10 Biggest Box Office Bombs Of 2018
9. A Wrinkle In Time
Budget: $103 million
Predicted Box Office: $190 million (projected $16m loss)
Though there's a good chance Ava DuVernay's Disney fantasy is well-received by critics and those audiences who actually bother to see it, it's also easy to see A Wrinkle in Time becoming this year's Tomorrowland: a well-made, star-studded film that fails to connect with the general public.
While it will certainly benefit from a PR boost for its diverse cast and the presence of Oprah, the social media buzz just isn't there even with the movie hitting cinemas in little over a month. The more obscure nature of Madeleine L'Engle's source novel probably doesn't help.
It looks like marketing and audiences are both going to fail this film, even if it ends up scoring 90+% on Rotten Tomatoes.
