Predicting The Next 10 Billion Dollar Movies

5. Han Solo

Spider Man Billion Dollar

There is a very distinct possibility that franchise fatigue could one day begin to set in with Star Wars, given that a new movie has been promised on an annual basis in Disney's continued quest for world domination. However, the currently-untitled Han Solo spinoff will not be that movie.

For starters, Han Solo is one of the most famous characters in cinema history. Everybody knows who he is, even if they aren't fans of the franchise. Rogue One featured a cast of almost entirely new characters and still raked in over a billion dollars thanks largely to the strength of the Star Wars brand, and of course the fact that it was a damned good movie.

Then there is the tantalizing prospect of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who have made a career of turning questionable ideas into great movies and have yet to make anything less than gloriously entertaining, unleashed in the Star Wars universe. If their anthology effort matches the output of their previous work, then strong critical notices and postivie word-of-mouth will see this easily break the ten figure barrier.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
