Predicting The Next 10 Comic Book Movies From Worst To Best
9. Gambit (October 7, 2016)
What We Know: Gambit has always been one of the most popular X-Men characters ever since his first appearance in print back in 1990, and last year it was announced that the fan favorite Cajun will get finally get his own standalone feature, with Channing Tatum in the title role.
While there isn't even a script yet, Gambit will no doubt do better justice to the character than the previous big screen incarnation played by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. However, while Tatum has been proving himself an increasingly versatile actor, studio blockbusters haven't really been his forte so far, with both G.I. Joe movies and White House Down seeing him deliver uncharismatic and borderline wooden performances.
The Prediction: With the release date almost 18 months away, very little is known about the project so far, other than the fact that Tatum will also produce alongside series veterans Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner, with Josh Zetumer writing the script.
Tatum will no doubt be heavily involved with the creative process, and the best work of his career so far has come in projects that he is vocally passionate about (Magic Mike, Jump Street, Foxcatcher) so with the right script and director, Gambit could potentially be the standalone X-Men movie the fans have been waiting for.
Predicted Rating: 5.75/10
