Predicting The Next 10 Comic Book Movies From Worst To Best
3. X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27, 2016)
What We Know: The X-Men franchise suffered a creative slump after The Last Stand and the first Wolverine spin-off, but has been rejuvenated in recent years, with Days of Future Past marking a critical and commercial high point for the long-running series. Looking to build on that success, Bryan Singer is once again behind the camera, with the movie set to introduce the mutant team's most formidable foe yet.
With First Class taking place during the 1960's and Days of Future Past jumping back in time to the 70's, it seems only logical that Apocalypse is set in 1983, albeit with some ancient Egyptian flashbacks. With the focus firmly back on the younger set of characters with a new continuity established, Apocalypse also introduces new iterations of fan-favorites Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler and Angel.
The Prediction: Singer has shown a knack for deftly balancing story, theme and character alongside the action sequences, and it is no coincidence that the director's previous three entries in the franchise are among the best-reviewed.
With the hugely talented Oscar Isaac on board as the title villain, the focus firmly back on the First Class generation and concept art teasing the Four Horsemen, Apocalypse once again brings something new to the series, and has a real chance of being the best X-Men movie yet.
Predicted Rating: 8/10
