If it's become an increasing trend in recent years for studios to hire indie filmmakers to helm their larger-scale movies - something the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made an art out of - it's not always a tactic that works.

However in the case of Project Power it's certainly a gamble that paid off, as despite their most expensive prior film costing just $19 million, Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost prove themselves immensely capable of working at a larger scale.

Schulman and Joost have an evidently strong eye for compelling visuals, allowing them to make the most of Michael Simmonds' precise cinematography and the aforementioned visual effects.

Every action sequence has a distinct personality to it, and unlike The Old Guard, the set-pieces always feel spatially and logically coherent.

Even for those who don't vibe entirely with the plot or script, this is an extremely persuasive calling card to Hollywood, that these talented filmmakers surely have what it takes to handle an Avengers-sized budget one day.
