Prometheus 2: 10 Questions The Film Needs To Answer

During this, they enter a chamber which fans have dubbed the 'egg chamber', filled with capsules of the black goo weapon. During this scene, the crew members remark upon discovery that 2000 years ago an incident occurred at the temple just as the ships across the planet were set to journey to Earth, killing virtually everyone at the outpost and preventing humanity from being killed by the black goo. The question is, what happened two thousand years ago that made the Engineers want to wipe humanity out? However, it seems as though something on Earth may have caused them to weaponise the goo before things went awry. Plenty of fan theories around the Internet have speculated that Prometheus is confirming the 'ancient astronaut' theory postulated - which suggests that humanity was given an evolutionary head-start by aliens from another planet - and that the hint of something occurring 2000 years ago has suggested to some fans that the idea of the Christian Messiah being an otherworldly emissary could be a big, hinted-at plot point for the film. Whether or not it's right or not, it'd be fantastic to get confirmation on way or another about that 'Space Jesus' theory...
