Prometheus 2: 9 Things Need To Happen

5. What's The Deal With The Space Jockey On LV-426?

While explicitly explaining how the Space Jockey from Alien ended up on LV-426 could be flying too close to the Alien films in terms of Ridley Scott not wanting to make direct prequels: there's still more than enough room for the director to at least give us an inkling as to how the deceased Engineer ended up there. Additionally, we have no idea how long the Space Jockey has been entombed on the planet, so for all we know, he could have been resting there since before the events of Prometheus. While that is unlikely (especially as Scott wants the final Prometheus film to lead directly into Alien), there's still no harm in giving audiences at least one tiny connection between both of the films. If the crashed ship has been on LV-426 since before the events of Prometheus, why aren't there any Facehuggers on LV-223 when the scientists visit it? If it's set afterwards, then we need an explanation as to why the Space Jockey's ship was carrying so many Alien pods and what it intended to do with them.
