Prometheus 2: 9 Things Need To Happen

6. More Involvement From The Weyland Corporation

If the events of Prometheus truly did feature the first instance of mankind coming into contact with an alien species, does this mean that Weyland-Yutani (The Company) had prior knowledge of the beacon that The Nostromo found on LV-426? In true Prometheus fashion, asking the above question of the film immediately just gives rise to even more questions. As we don't know how the Prometheus trilogy (presuming its a trilogy) will end, it's hard to hazard a guess as to how big of a role the Weyland corporation will play in future films, but they certainly need to play a bigger one than they did in the first film. The company served as an excellent catalyst for jump-starting the narrative of the first film into exploring space, but there's so much more to know about Weyland now that its CEO has perished at the hands of an Engineer. How and why did the Weyland Corporation eventually merge with another to become the Weyland-Yutani corporation? If Peter Weyland's sole dream was to extend his life far beyond the normal limitations of man, what is the purpose of the company becoming further involved in future expeditions now that its founder is dead? Will it go looking for Peter Weyland, only to find disaster instead?
