4. Van Sant Can Direct Unknown Actors Like That Damon Guy
As covered in the last point, Gus Van Sant will certainly take Anne Heche to staggering new heights in her acting career - just look at what he managed to do with Ben Affleck, who you may only know as the bad guy from Dazed and Confused. With Van Sant's direction, this talentless hack actually put on a decent performance. But look for Hollywood to ignore this guy from now on, as Good Will Hunting will be the last Best Picture Nominee he ever stars in. Then there's newcomer Mike Damon, previously known only from a supporting role in Courage Under Fire. Unless this guy pairs up with Gus Van Sant the rest of his career with the director carefully guiding his each and every line delivery, Mr. Damon is sure to point himself out of the spotlight and off of the silver screen, being delegated to being fifth billed in straight to VHS B-list horror flicks. If Van Sant managed to turn these two hacks into decent actors, imagine what he'll do with Vaughn, Heche and William H. Macy.
