11. Sanjuro's Blood

The excessive, spraying blood that spews from the Bride's many victims during the sword fight at the House of Blue Leaves is a reference to a number of samurai flicks from the 50s, though it most likely refers to the 1960 film Sanjuro, which made serious use of this particular troupe.

10. Twisted Nerve

Elle Driver whistles the theme from Twisted Nerve (1968) whilst dressed as a nurse. The shot used as she fills a syringe with poison mirrors a shot from Black Sunday (1977), only this time with a nun.
