His Role in the Film: Sallah, Indy's good, loyal friend who helps him unearth the Ark in Cairo in order to get it safely away from the Nazis.
Since 1981: To say that Rhys-Davies has remained busy would be an understatement, as the actor has appeared in a staggering number of films and shows over the years, from lending his voice to a handful of Marvel, DC, and Disney animated projects to his role as Professor Arturo in the first three seasons of Sliders to pulling double-duty as Gimli and Treebeard in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
He even returned to his role as Sallah for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, as well as for Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, the ever-popular Disneyland ride.
As of 2016: Earlier this year, the actor began a recurring role on MTV's The Shannara Chronicles, and has a whole host of projects lined up for the rest of this year and beyond, including the Tim Boyle-directed The Half Dead, the thriller Nameless, and the fantasy drama Valley of the Gods alongside Josh Hartnett, Berenice Marlohe, and John Malkovich.
