Ralph Fiennes: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
5 Awesome Performances...
5. Lord Voldemort - Harry Potter Franchise (2005, 2007, 2010 & 2011)
When Ralph Fiennes, Royal Shakespeare Company alumni and two-time Academy Award nominee, saw the sketches of how JK Rowling's Lord Voldemort will look on screen he was hooked. As far as the web of popular culture goes, Ralph Fiennes is now hyperlinked with Lord Voldemort forever. Much like how Ian McKellen will be the greatest Gandalf and Patrick Stewart the greatest Charles Xavier, so too will Fiennes be the greatest Lord Voldemort. It's the kind of performance which stands as evidence that actors who have been cut from the most refined of cloths can be totally awesome as over-the-top and scenery-chewing fantasy characters. Next to his phenomenal voice work and perfectly exaggerated arm movements that make him look like a madman conducting a Satanic symphony, Fiennes' Lord Voldemort makes the cut because the thespian treats even the most showy roles with the upmost respect. It's something that only actors of his caliber do with serious intentions. From his first appearance in The Goblet of Fire to his last stand in the Deathly Hallows Pt. 2, Fiennes has incarnated Voldemort from the stuff of nightmares as only he could; creating a fascinating, timeless and endlessly watchable villain.
