Rambo: Last Blood Review - 4 Ups & 5 Downs

1. There's One Genuinely Affecting Dramatic Moment

Without giving the game away, there is one single scene in this film so dramatically well-crafted that it clearly belongs in a much better movie.

This mid-film scene gives Stallone a fantastic opportunity to emote and peel back the layers of his troubled character, and in a film that's constantly in a hurry to move onto the next genre beat, it's very much welcome.

It's a firm reminder that Rambo isn't always the braindead murder machine he's so often depicted as, even if the film largely leaves little room to breathe between the character sadistically chopping up the bad guys.

If only Last Blood had more of these quiet, dramatic asides, then the overall film wouldn't feel like such a reckless, seat-of-your-pants mess.
