5. The Totally Forgettable Characters

Rambo: Last Blood
Lionsgate

Aside from Rambo himself, Last Blood's cast is largely composed of new characters, not one of whom is actually given sufficient character development to be worthwhile.

First and foremost, there's Gabrielle (Yvette Monreal), Rambo's young "niece" who he has been helping raise with her mother Maria (Adriana Barraza) for the last decade.

But we're never really asked to care about her beyond the fact she's close to Rambo and gets inevitably kidnapped, being so thinly drawn as to prove instantly forgettable.

That's better than can be said for journalist Carmen Delgado (Paz Vega), who could be cut from the film entirely without affecting its outcome.

There's at least something to be said for the connection between Rambo and Maria, yet the film's hurried pace prevents it from ever forming into something truly meaningful.
