6. Iron Monger (Iron Man)
MarvelJeff Bridges' Obadiah Stane is the first villain of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and in comparison to his future comrades-in-evil, he is relatively tame. Obadiah is a businessman through and through, and all he craves are power and money; he's not afraid to sell his soul and betray his friend's company just to get those two things. Stane is an example of a turncoat villain, or someone who both the hero and the audience believe to be a good guy (although how many people really honestly believed that Obadiah had everyone's best interests at heart?), and his status is helped by this because the audience feels betrayed alongside of Tony. Obadiah combines the corrupt businessman aspect of villainy with physical threat (aided by a suit, of course), making him a formidable villain. The only thing that stops the "Iron Monger" from being higher up in the rankings is the fact that he is simply a businessman with shifty morals. Yes, Jeff Bridges plays him well, but it's hard to compare later villains of the MCU capable of destroying cities with a man who only poses a threat in the final confrontation with the hero (which is pretty awesome, by the way). However, the positive attributes outweigh the negative and Obadiah lands at #6.
