Pennywise It Remake
New Line Cinema

Box Office: $438.2 million approx (#5)

The much-hyped adaptation of Stephen King's legendary horror novel is an outstanding improvement over the campy 1990 original, a bracingly intense, superbly-acted and unerringly disturbing horror that's been annihilating the box office ever since its release.

Andy Muschietti's (Mama) pin-sharp direction combines with a terrific ensemble cast of young actors, not to mention Bill Skarsgard's bone-shaking portrayal of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and a smart reinvention of King's source material to make It the best horror film from a major studio in many years.

Throwing the gauntlet down to other big-budget horror films in terms of production quality, maturity and its desire to push the envelope, it's little surprise the movie is connecting with such a huge worldwide audience.
