Ranking 2015's Summer Blockbuster Films From Worst To Best

5. Trainwreck

Amy Schumer elevates herself to cinematic superstar status in this Judd Apatow-directed movie that she herself wrote. Schumer proves herself an effortless fit for Apatow with her outrageous sense of humour and witty observations about contemporary relationships. The supporting cast is excellent, especially Bill Hader, Tilda Swinton and Ezra Miller, but it's the litany of cameos that really take this one to the next level: John Cena and LeBron James are easily highlights and steal almost every scene they show up in. If the film has one particular weakness, it's that a maudlin subplot regarding Amy's ill father feels almost completely unnecessary and kinda saps the fun out of the thing for a little while as well as bloating out the run-time, but it's a minor flaw in a film that'll speak to millions of young women while also providing plenty of comic nourishment for everyone else. Unsurprisingly, Schumer's schedule is starting to fill up big time now, and she's currently writing a comedy movie with Jennifer Lawrence in which the two actresses play sisters. What's not to like?
