Ranking 2015's Summer Blockbuster Films From Worst To Best

2. Inside Out

A major return to form after Pixar's last three movies ranged from decent (Monsters University) to actually bad (Cars 2), Inside Out is an easily classic of not just the studio's canon but animated filmmaking as a whole: the Oscar race for Best Animated Feature ended the second it was released. After playing it broad and subtext-free for the last few years, Inside Out is back to the mature, beautifully animated, hilariously witty and emotionally devastating highs of movies like WALL-E, Up and Toy Story 3. Dealing with the emotional development of a young girl in a way that's both terrifically inventive and relatable to both young viewers and, with much more depth, adults, it's tough to imagine anyone not appreciating the film's imagination. It may have been a while since a Pixar movie made you cry, but here's another to embarrass you in front of a cinema full of children. The studio still has it, and they've turned in not merely a great animation but a film easily worthy of a Best Picture nomination (and hell, a win would be pretty justified too).
