Ranking 2015's Summer Blockbuster Films From Worst To Best
16. San Andreas
Neither especially good nor especially bad, San Andreas is basically an above-average Roland Emmerich disaster flick elevated somewhat by the presence of Dwayne Johnson, even if he often feels like little more than a passenger to all the large-scale mayhem taking place alongside him. The film has the good sense to be aware of its own silliness even if it does nevertheless enthusiastically indulge in a number of terrible dramatic subplots at the expense of all that destruction porn. The mayhem itself is glorious and solid effects fire it home well, but actors like Johnson, Carla Gugino and Paul Giamatti in particular deserve better. It won't stick in your mind for long, but it'll deliver the basic goods on an undemanding Friday night on Netflix with a few pals and a pack of beers.
