Ranking 2015's Summer Blockbuster Films From Worst To Best

17. Terminator Genisys

Most Terminator fans had nothing but barrel-scraping expectations for the latest entry into the franchise, an admittedly ambitious attempt to reboot the series while keeping Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 in the picture for the sake of nostalgia-driven sales. Sadly, Genisys suffers from a near-total lack of time travel logic, quickly switching-up the rules whenever it suits the cobbled-together plot and the studio's lame agenda to pump out a new trilogy of movies. Arnie's still game and easily the best thing about the film, but Emilia Clarke and Courtney are wildly miscast, and Clarke is bad enough that she actually makes Courtney's work here look slightly better by comparison. Brilliant actors like Jason Clarke and J.K. Simmons are wasted on a naff script, while Alan Taylor can't find a visually imaginative way to deliver the action sequences, which basically just replay the greatest hits from the first two movies. Oh, and by its nature, the film negates pretty much everything you loved about the previous movies. And yes, it's even worse than the maddeningly disappointing Terminator Salvation. Though a strong recent showing at the Chinese box office has saved it from being a box office bomb, most fans are rightly hoping that the series will just die already (which, sadly, is very unlikely).
