Ranking All 22 Major Summer 2016 Blockbusters From Worst To Best

7. The Secret Life Of Pets

Summer 2016
Universal Pictures

Toy Story did it with toys, Sausage Party did it with food and now The Secret Life Of Pets has answered the question of what happens with pets when you're not around to watch them. It's a simple idea, but it's one that has already spawned millions of dollars, so why not?

There's not quite the density or the depth of story as in a Pixar equivalent, but for surface level fun, it delivers, particularly for younger audience members. It's very slim-line (and a little familiar), but then it's not really demanding a great deal and there are some solid laughs throughout, with some characters that last beyond the run time.

It's made an absolute boat-load (good move releasing during the summer school holidays), and you just know a sequel will be coming. Let's just hope they avoid Minions syndrome and actually make something worthwhile.
