Ranking All 22 Major Summer 2016 Blockbusters From Worst To Best
8. X-Men: Apocalypse
A lot of people didn't like X-Men: Apocalypse: it was called sloppy, imbalanced and garish, and an inferior follow up to Days Of Future Past. All of that is an over-reaction, and the Rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes is an absolute travesty.
The film escalated the threat in a way that felt authentic, bringing in a proper comic book villain with a pleasantly camp edge and introducing interesting new characters and relationships. It's entertaining, has the right eye for spectacle and mercifully spends no time moralising pointlessly about collateral damage.
Sure, Michael Fassbender might be embarrassed by his Magneto performance, but he was easily the best thing about it, and while there are issues across the board, it definitely still deserves to be considered the fourth best in the franchise.
