Ranking All 22 Major Summer 2016 Blockbusters From Worst To Best

18. Warcraft

Summer 2016
Universal Pictures

When legitimate director Duncan Jones was hired to make the first in what was no doubt designed to be a long line of Warcraft movies, it felt like the video game to movie genre was suddenly getting serious.

Sadly, his genius wasn't quite transferred across.

Warcraft sags under the weight of its own mythology, no doubt captivating established fans, but bombarding "mainstream" audiences in a way that even Peter Jackson managed to avoid in The Hobbit. Added to that the film's insistent sentimentality and the drowning-in-cliches familial dynamics and it's just not the action fantasy that it was billed as.

It's not entirely awful, by any means, but it's just bland.
