8. The Batman S05 E02 - The Batman-Superman Story, Part 2
This clash is a combination of the battles in Batman: Hush and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Despite having all the cliches of every Batman vs. Superman fight involving a brainwashed Kryptonian, kryptonite, and battle armor, it kept things fresh with multiple locations.
The locations went from Lex Luthor’s lab, to the rooftop, to the Batcave, to the streets, and into a factory. Every location change highlights how relentless of a hunter The Man of Steel is. No matter how many times Bats slowed him down, the man kept on coming back, and the intermediate breaks were only used for preparation for the inevitable next round.
The only reason a mortal like Bruce had a fighting chance of survival, was that Robin kept on saving him at the last minute, highlighting the value of teamwork and Batman’s complete trust in his sidekick.
It had an original ending, with Bruce luring Clark into a plant-killer chemical factory to kill the mind-controlling plant spores inside the Kryptonian. Somehow, even with all the cliches, this animated episode got very creative.
The downside of this fight is that it got too long and Superman looked ineffective with multiple defeats.
