5. Batman: The Brave And The Bold S03 E01 - The Battle Of The Superheroes
The third season of Batman: The Brave and the Bold started with a bang with The Battle of the Superheroes — a homage to the Silver Age era of The Man of Steel, full of Easter eggs and jokes.
Batman: Brave and the Bold has a campy kid-friendly vibe, and the show’s idea of an evil Man of Steel is that he puts cats on trees as a little girl cries. As a result, the fight between the two heroes cannot be taken seriously. However, a campy tone is a perfect platform for fan service and fun. Since Batsy battling Supes is inherently a fan service concept, it is perfect.
It is only in this series that Superman can say, "Faster than a speeding bullet... more powerful than a locomotive... able to leap tall buildings in a single bound" while beating up Batman as the Caped Crusader is wearing his battle armor from The Dark Knight Returns so that the battle can recreate iconic comic book panels.
Other projects can make the mistake of making the super friends overly serious for people who wear pyjamas to save the world. Batman: The Brave and the Bold reminds us that superheroes fighting each other just needs to be fun.
