Ranking All The Alien & Predator Movies, From Worst To Best

7. Alien: Covenant (2017)

Alien Covenant Xenomorph
Fox

A stronger and more focused follow-up to Prometheus. For all that movies flaws though, it posed several interesting questions yet quite disappointingly, everything here is literally nuked out of existence.

At least, the one element that really worked - Michael Fassbender's android - is put front and centre and even doubled in an enticing dual role of polar opposite characters. The character's love/hate relationship is a fascinating centre-point that touches on director Ridley Scott's enticing themes from Blade Runner.

Scott brings his trademark stunning visuals with a clear-cut mandate of grisly horror and big action pieces. The film's first two acts are the strongest as it delivers an entertaining film while evolving the Alien's origin in a no-nonsense manner. Yet, the finale feels like a sped-up version of the first Alien; a bit rushed and underwhelming (as is the creature itself).

Conclusively, the movie works in two ways; as Prometheus 2 it's a sharp and muscular improvement, as an Alien movie it's slightly underwhelming. Regardless, it felt like a course correction that works - although, you'll be much more interested in where Fassbender goes next then the Xeno itself.
