Ranking All The Marvel Cinematic Universe Franchises From Worst To Best
6. Ant-Man
Movies: Ant-Man
Upcoming: Ant-Man And The Wasp
Had things gone a little different, by this point Ant-Man could have been one of the major staples of the MCU; his standalone movie was being prepped since before the Marvel Cinematic Universe was a defined thing, with Edgar Wright locked to direct. Of course, after almost a decade of stalls and studio conflict, he left and was replaced by Peyton Reed, leading to a Wright-lite film that was fun if not fresh slotted in at the end of Phase 2 almost like an afterthought.
It's not even really a franchise yet, for now in one-movie purgatory, although by all accounts it's shaping up for bigger things; Giant-Man was a highlight of Captain America: Civil War that showed the extent of the character's skills, while duo sequel Ant-Man And The Wasp will really play up Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne's partnership.
All that said, fitting of its hero Ant-Man feels like a smaller deal than the other Avengers series, a tighter story against the bigger backdrop (at least for now), but that may speak of how the MCU will expanded in the future, with sub-series of different levels of prominence.
