Brad Bird's superhero sequel proved to be more than worth the fourteen-year wait. Incredibles 2 is a funnier film, its action sequences are somehow even more stunning, and the film's cinematography by Mahyar Abousaeedi is flat-out breathtaking.

Picking up precisely where the first film left off, the film pulls a Toy Story 2 by reversing the dynamics between Bob and Helen. This time around, it's Elastigirl who gets to go off superhero-ing about while Mr. Incredible has to stay home taking care of the family. It is great to see Elastigirl in-action and out on her own, and it is a laugh-riot to see Mr. Incredible attempt to hold the fort down at home while she is away.

Jack-Jack is a scene-stealer in a film full of them, with his encounter with a certain raccoon being one of the best sequences in the entirety of Pixar's filmography. Michael Giacchino's score is also pumped up to new heights for this film, somehow surpassing his career-defining work in the first film.

The film's story gives Bird the chance to offer up some incredibly relevant commentary on not just the superhero genre, but the state of the world we're living in. He just so happens to also deliver one of the best blockbusters of the decade while doing so.
