Ranking April 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best
7. Louder Than Bombs
RottenTomatoes Score: 68% (6.7/10)
Box Office: Made for $11 million, the Joachim Trier-directed drama unsurprisingly couldn't find an audience at the cinema, just barely making $600,000 back to date. Terrible.
Verdict: A subtle drama that eschews overt melodrama in favour of quiet character moments, Trier's first English-language movie will be too slight for many tastes, but with an ensemble of terrific performances from the likes of Jesse Eisenberg, Gabriel Byrne and Isabelle Huppert, Louder Than Bombs is a thoughtful trip well worth taking.
The more reserved approach may dampen the film's emotional impact to some, but for those who don't need to be handheld to catharsis, it's undeniably resonant.
