12. Bushwick

RottenTomatoes Score: 43% (5.2/10)

Box Office: No financial information is available owing to its ultra-limited release, but it's certainly not a hit.

Verdict: An uneven but undeniably interesting thriller that's perhaps best described as a cross between Birdman and Red Dawn, Bushwick's impressive fake-single-take style and solid performances can only compensate so much for its scant narrative, but at least it's ambitious and interesting.

The timely narrative and surprisingly sturdy performance from Dave Bautista in particular prop up its less-subtle and wonkier scripting elements, not to mention some laughably bad CGI on occasion (yet the evidently low budget makes this somewhat more forgivable).

Neither a swing and a miss nor a home run, Bushwick is an intense, intriguing curio that's definitely worth it for Bautista fans.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
