Box Office: Neither budgetary nor box office data are yet available, but with tepid reviews it's hard to imagine it performing well.

Verdict: Idris Elba could probably become a rock solid filmmaker if his effort here is any indication: he's just desperately in need of a stronger script which would render the globe-trotting revenge story anything more than passably generic.

The performances are decent and it looks nice enough, but Yardie too often gives in to genre formula, and by the time its scant 101-minute run-time is up, you'll probably feel like you've been sitting there far longer.

Again, though, Elba acquits himself fine in his feature debut, and off the back of this he could certainly be offered far greater things. Wait and see.
