Ranking Black Panther's Oscars Chances In Each Category
7. Film Editing
Ryan Coogler reunited with Creed editor Michael Shawver for Black Panther, with him teaming up with Spider-Man: Homecoming's Debbie Berman. Most of the movie is well-edited, but it's in the fight scenes where it really shines.
Like with Creed, there's a kinetic energy there that elevates them far beyond more basic punch-ups, and here it helps imbue them with as much emotion as it does intensity.
Chances Of Nomination: 7/10
Chances Of Winning: This award doesn't go hand-in-hand with Best Picture like it used to, and the past three winners - Dunkirk, Hacksaw Ridge, and Mad Max: Fury Road - indicate how well blockbusters have been playing here, and that if nominated Black Panther does have a chance. It still won't be favourite, though, when First Man, If Beale Street Could Talk, and A Star Is Born are in the mix. 5/10
