Ranking December 2018's Movies From Worst To Best
10. Dumplin’
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 83% (6.4/10)
Box Office: Direct to Netflix.
Verdict: This adaptation of Julie Murphy's novel may veer a little too close to schmaltz on occasion, but it's also a terrifically acted coming-of-age comedy with an undeniably wholesome message about self-confidence and body positivity.
Patti Cake$' breakout star Danielle Macdonald is remarkable in the title role, though it's Jennifer Aniston who steals the show with a surprisingly large supporting part as Dumplin's overbearing mother. Harold Perrineau is also fantastically enthusiastic while playing hugely against-type as a campy drag act.
The definition of easy viewing, Dumplin' is sweetly predictable, and that's just fine.
