Leonardo DiCaprio's Dom Dobb is another classically pained Nolan protagonist, attempting to get home to his estranged children after his deceased, mentally ill wife Mal framed him for her murder.

As if evading the authorities wasn't enough for one man, Dom has the unique issue of psychological projections of Mal invading his subconscious whenever he dreams, which puts his titular mission at tremendous risk.

Nolan crafted a true original with Inception, and DiCaprio gives one of his best performances as the deeply troubled yet highly determined figure at its center. And that unforgettable ending, where Cobb no longer seems to care about what's real, only makes him that much more fascinating.
