Ranking Every Chucky Movie From Worst To Best

When you think about the most iconic slasher juggernauts in horror, you'd naturally be drawn to Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, or Leather Face. And then there's Chucky. Although he's not as old as the other mascots, Chucky has certainly built himself quite the resume over his bloody career.

Initially, he started off as Charles Lee Ray, a terrifying strangler that was gunned down during a police chase, but miraculously managed to cheat death through the means of voodoo magic. Since then, Chucky's soul has been trapped within a Good Guy doll, determined to transfer his demonic spirit back into a human form.

Over the last thirty years, Chucky has spawned seven movies, a remake (which was actually pretty decent), and an upcoming television series on Syfy. The killer doll has also had recurring appearances at Universal's Halloween Horror Nights, making an impressive appearance in 2018 during the Orlando event within his own scare-zone called Revenge of Chucky.

Also, one has to applaud Brad Dourif for sticking with the franchise since day one, delivering such an iconic voice to this infamous horror legend. Today we shall be celebrating Chucky's legacy. Every franchise has their low point, and for the Chucky series it was this infamous chapter of the killer dolls murderous career. As established in the previous film, Chucky had created new life, with Seed of Chucky now telling the story of this new blood. What should've been a fascinating delve into the next generation of Chucky's legacy, quickly turned into a dumb, comedic spoof that almost mocked the killer doll's journey.

Sure, Bride of Chucky was developed as a bit of a comedy, but it still took itself seriously. Here, the franchise takes a collosal nose dive, made worse by the meta elements fuelling the stupidity of the plot. This ain't no Wes Craven's New Nightmare, that's for sure. It's an absolute shamble of a film, and does nothing but deliver disservice to Chucky's legacy.

Had this been a serious narrative, that actually had Chucky's child be a nightmare worse than his father, this could've been something of pure genius. Instead, Don Mancini crafted a strange set up based around Glen being confused over his identity and gender, which was executed so poorly, and frustratingly dumped more cringe worthy comedy into the fold. Also, did we really need to see Chucky masturbating, and Tiffany turkey basting Jennifer Tilly?
