Ranking Every DC Movie Villain From Worst To Best

39. Laurel Hedare - Sharon Stone (Catwoman)

DC Villains Updated
Warner Bros.

Let's be honest: the Catwoman spin-off already had its work cut out when Michelle Pfeiffer wasn't brought back with Tim Burton (there were tentative plans, but it went up in smoke), but Warner Bros then didn't help themselves by getting every single creative decision wrong. Perhaps it was the cost of rushing the film out; perhaps it was just that the studio lost its mind temporarily?

Probably both.

A good villain might well have helped matters, but instead we got Sharon Stone representing the evil face of the cosmetic industry. As if Catwoman was written by animal rights activists with an agenda to stop people testing lipstick on fluffy animals and armed with two or three hours screenwriting experience.

Her motivation is ridiculous, the performance is as uneven and as coldly unsympathetic as the rest of the film, and there seems to be an odd, unwitting commentary on the dangers of old people trying to pretend they are still fit for purpose. All in all, a distasteful disaster.
