Ranking Every DC Movie Villain From Worst To Best

11. Bane - Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises)

DC Villains Updated
Warner Bros. Pictures

Regardless of the ridiculous and entirely unnecessary criticism of his vocal performance, Tom Hardy's physical performance as Bane is one of the most stunningly transformative in comic book movie history. He put on masses of muscle, sculpting himself into a creature who could believably beat Batman, and his monstrous swagger is mesmeric.

In stark contrast to the Jeep Swenson version of the character, this Bane is also an intellectual match for Batman (even if his stock market plan relies on an almighty plot contrivance) and no matter how many complained, the voice is a positive addition to the performance. It adds an otherworldly element and an eccentricity that makes him more creepy, more charismatic and more perversely likeable.

He's unfortunately declawed in the end when it's revealed he's not in charge of his own nefarious scheme, and his relationship with Talia raises a few eyebrows, but ultimately he's still a formidable presence in Nolan's trilogy.

The Dark Knight Rises is available to buy from Amazon.
