21. Batman: Bad Blood (2016)
This is the third in the Damien Wayne continuity and proves they haven't learned much from the prior films mistakes with the overflowing amount of sidekicks reaching excessive heights, and taking focus away from Bruce Wayne himself. They don't only have Batman disappear and get brainwashed for over three quarters of the running time, but Damian Wayne's Robin gets the leading role with three more Bat sidekicks shoved into the plot to help him.
At least the other additions help distract from Damien's trying angst, with the usually under-utilised Nightwing getting some necessary screen-time. Bat Wing is dull and basically blows stuff up though, but quite intriguing is the addition of Batwoman - inspired by Greg Rucka's championed take on the character - and who makes for a dynamic, strong female hero.
Still, the plot just doesn't do much to grip you, with most of it feeling like a retread of better moments from other Bat entries. Plus, what's with Talia Al Ghul going from loving mother into heartless maniac without any organic explanation?
It's still a slick product in director Jay Olivia's hands with some good action, but it stumbles regularly, never feeling confident in its main drive and is too busy throwing characters at us, instead of creating an involving Gotham-set tale.
