Ranking Every DC Original Animated Movie Worst To Best
20. Superman/Batman: Public Enemies (2009)
What do you get if a Batman and Superman team-up was crossed over with a mid-90s Bruckheimer/Simpson production, with Michael Bay as director? Well, for better or worse, Public Enemies probably wouldn't be too far off.
Lex Luthor lands the title of President of United States and with his newly appointed status takes the opportunity to frame his sworn enemy Superman and best buddy Batman; proclaiming them 'Enemies of the State'. The duo must go on the run to clear their names whilst super-villains and heroes alike come out the woodwork to stop them.
It's a blockbuster premise - Supes and Bats being the classic bickering partners thrown in a situation way over there heads - with wall-to-wall action and epic scale excitement, but there's not much else behind it. This works fine for half the runtime but by the end, you've grown numb to the spectacle. Not to mention, exhausted.
Still, flaws aside the production is polished and it's amusing for DC fanboys spotting all the numerous obscure characters trying to destroy our super-friends. Plus Kevin Conroy (as Batman) and Tim Daly (as Superman) are excellent, reprising their regular roles from the individual animated series, and Clancy Brown brings his powerful presence to villain Luthor as well.
